Kevin M. Dean - Bike Participant

           Kevin was born and raised in the small town of Weed California.  While at Willamette Kevin has participated in Mortar Board, the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, the Student Athletic Advisory Committee, the Science Collaborative Research Project, and the Willamette University Football Leadership Council.  Kevin played five seasons of football for Willamette and was an All-Northwest Conference running back and a special teams MVP.  He was a two time ESPN & CoSIDA District 8 Academic All-American and was picked as a team captain his senior year.  Academically Kevin was an exceptional student whose research in Physical Chemistry has been published in a scientific journal.  Kevin will graduate with a degree in Chemistry this December and plans on entering either a graduate or medical program.  .

Alex W. MacKenzie - Bike Participant

           Alex was raised in the rural town of Pendleton, OR.  While in high school Alex was involved in band and choir while being selected as a team captain his senior year in both wrestling and football.  He was also a Umatilla County Scholar Athlete his senior year.  At Willamette University, Alex has continued his involvement in music and sports.  He sang in Male Ensemble Willamette and was also one of the original members of the A Cappella group HeadBand which is currently working on their second album.   Alex was a linebacker and special teams player for the Willamette football team for five years and was selected as a team captain his senior season.  He majored in Art History with a focus in Western Architecture.  He hopes to combine his interest and knowledge of architecture with the many skills he has acquired while working for the University’s paint shop in the field of domestic renovation and/or restoration.

Wesley D. Randall - Bike Participant

           Wes was born and raised in the Greater Los Angeles area. He loves working with people and is very excited about the trip and everything positive that will come from it.  Wes was an Academic Honor Scholar as a graduate from Cathedral Preparatory High School. He was a dual sport athlete (football/track and field) at both Cathedral Prep and Willamette University. Wes played five years of football for Willamette.  He was a two time honorable mention All-Northwest Conference selection at corner back and a Sigma Alpha Epsilon Football All-American in 2004. His senior season he was selected as a team captain.  Wes majored in Sociology and minored in American Ethnic studies. He spent the spring semester of his senior year as an intern with the Salem Fire Department. Future plans for Wes consist of becoming a paramedic fire fighter and possibly law school.

Jonathan J. Irizarry - Media & Finances

           Jonathan Irizarry is the son of Jim and Linda Irizarry, and brother to Joel and Jaime.  He was born and raised in Woodside, California and attended Woodside High School where he played football, baseball, basketball, and track.  Upon graduating with high distinction, Jon received the Marine Athletic Scholarship for Male Athlete of the Year. Jonathan partakes in many other sports and activities including mountain biking, jiu jitsu, and snowboarding.  Jon is currently finishing up his exercise science major, chemistry minor, and his 5th year of varsity football at Willamette University in Salem, Oregon.  Undecided on his future plans; his options include medical school, American football in Europe, paramedic/firefighter program, and/or selling and developing real estate with his father in the bay area.  Jonathan is happy to be taking part in Coast 2 Coast 4 Kalan in support of a good friend and a worthy cause.
